My husband installed this set of 8 rock lights on our boat trailer to use as loading lights at night. Installation took him about 4 hours crawling around under the boat on his back - if the boat wasn't on the trailer, he said it would have taken him half that long.The lights were mounted on the underside of the lowest, longest bunks pointing down. The aluminum housings are nicely made, and the plastic lenses appear to be sturdy. The lights came with what appear to be metric 3mm machine screws with washers and nuts. My husband used #6 x 1-1/2" stainless steel pan head wood screws, and he had to drill the mounting holes in the aluminum bodies a tiny bit bigger to use the imperial screws. We could have waited and bought 3mm stainless wood screws instead, but he had the #6 screws already, so drilling out the holes worked fine.He mounted the controller in a small sealable clear plastic box under the winch stand (to protect it from rocks and dust), and ran all the wires inside the trailer frame rails. The power cables supplied were all plenty long enough to do this.He hooked up power to the trailer lights and ground, so the trailer lights need to be on to use these lights - having the remote control makes it easy to turn the rock lights on to load, and off (when traveling down the road). The controller included 3 extra wires for right and left turn signals and brakes, but we didn't hook them up. They were capped off and coiled up inside the plastic mounting box.There are a variety of colors with these lights, along with various strobe and flash modes. I doubt we'll use any of the modes, but they are pretty cool when we tested them! I downloaded the app but haven't used it yet. The remote works great, we can even control the lights from inside the truck.We tried the lights at a local boat landing where the water is a bit murky, and they worked perfectly! Loading the boat was stress-free, and it is sooo much easier to see the bunks of the trailer now!My husband turned the lights on when he backed the boat up our driveway and he said the extra light around the trailer made it easier to see behind and around the trailer in the dark. He said he might remount a couple of the lights pointing straight back, to act as backup lights.We chose these lights because of their IP68 waterproof rating. The cables have connectors that screw together with o-rings to keep water out - our installation on a boat trailer that will frequently be totally submerged will be an extreme test of their ability to remain watertight. We'll see if they hold up and update this review as time goes on.Jimjoy rock lights.Very easy to install, you can hard wire or use the cigarette lighter attachment easy to use the remote or app, a lot modes and colors, lights also can dance to the music, plenty of wire for bigger vehicles. They have so many color options and combinations when using the app. Definitely recommend these.
